About Us

About Us

Banner Bears is a nonprofit ministry whose mission is to provide children and seniors with comfort, peace and the hope of Jesus Christ to help them through their journey of traumatic or struggling situations.

Banner Bears was established in 2021 and is a mission driven ministry that wants to make a difference in our community and beyond.  This ministry has seen expansion a couple of times since our beginning.  We originally began reaching out only to young children and then expanded to teens, and are now reaching out to seniors.  Our desire is to bring hope to each one with compassion and love.

Banner Bears has brought comfort and

joy to the hearts of children and teens in

child advocacy centers, family

shelters, domestic abuse shelters,

police/fire departments, children's homes, children's hospitals/surgical wards, social services foster care programs, etc.

Banner Bears reaches out to the elderly in nursing homes, rehab centers, or shut-ins in order to support and encourage, brighten their long days, and to help relieve their loneliness.

When firefighters arrive to give aid to a child, it is often a difficult proposition for everyone. While attending to a child in early October 2021, a colleague slipped one of Banner Bears’ teddy bears into his lap. With that cuddly critter held tight, we were able to complete the tasks necessary to keep the toddler stable until he could be transported to the hospital. Noticing that his big brother was sobbing quietly in a corner, another bear was procured from the fire truck and with the help of the teddy bear, comfort was given to two traumatized little boys. As the call was reviewed back at the station, we credit Banner Bears for making a bad situation “bearable” for those two little boys.

Dear Banner Bears,

Thank you so much for your generous donations . Your support enables us to make a difference in the lives of the women, children and men in our community who have been impacted by intimate partner violence and sexual assault. The children in the home suffer so much with feeling safe. These bears offer comfort and a little security for the children in these situations. A little girl came into the office yesterday with her mother (a victim), We gave her a Banner Bear Bag. She took the bear out of the bag and just hugged the bear so tight, you could tell that it wasn’t just about a stuffed animal or toy but more about the comfort that the bear was providing for her.

Sincerely,

Cara Thompson, Director of Operations, My Sister's House
